  • K&K Sound Pre-Phase Preamp

    K&K Sound Pre-Phase Preamp

The K&K Sound Pre-Phase Preamp is a miniature, onboard preamp that provides volume control and a phase switch for Pure pickups. It provides truly astonishing sound quality in an extremely small and light-weight package! The addition of the phase switch is one of the most important tools for live sound amplification of any acoustic instrument. Your unplugged acoustic guitar resonates in a given phase. The amplified sound needs to match this phase! Out of phase sound feeds back, has phase cancellations on some notes, and sounds quacky and tinny overall. Phase problems cannot be sufficiantly solveld with EQ. Any amp/PA/effect-unit/preamp may or may not flip the phase, the only way to be sure that your guitar is in phase with the amp-sound is a phase switch in your signal chain! In our opinion a phase switch is the #1 control for any amplified acoustic instrument. The volume control wheel allows for convenient adjustment during performance. With the Pre-Phase you are able to plug your acoustic guitar into any amp or PA directly. Simply use the EQ on the amp or mixer channel to adjust your tone. Battery life is about 150 hours with alkaline battery. You can order the Pre-Phase as an integrated element with any single-source passive pickup, or as an Add-On for an existing pickup. Simply unscrew the existing endpin jack, remove it from the endpin hole, and plug it into the 1/4" plug of the Pre-Phase Add-On. The 1/4" plug has a self-adhesive fastener, which can be secured inside the guitar. The lightweight thumbwheel control mounts with a peel-and-stick installation to the inner edge of the soundshole. Mount the new endpin jack into the endpin hole, and you're done!

  • K&K Sound Pure XLR Mach 2 Preamp

K&K Sound Pure XLR Mach 2 Preamp

What makes the Pure XLR Mach 2 Preamp sound so good? The circuit runs on a “voltage doubler” that provides 18 volts to the internal components even though it uses standard 9 volt input voltage. The result is high-powered clarity that simply cannot be achieved with a regular 9-volt circuit! Electronic circuits work more efficient on higher power and electronic components designed for low power consumption will never sound as good as the more power-hungry components that are optimized for tone quality. There is a direct relation between power consumption and sound quality, meaning that preamps with 200+ hours battery life will compromise on sound quality. Phantom powered preamps, depending on their complexity, also need to compromise on power consumption issues as phantom power fluctuates and diminishes with the number of consumers connected. Generally, low power consumption equals less high-end response, less headroom (circuit peaks or overloads sooner), and less overall clarity. At K&K, we've always favored sound quality over power consumption in our external preamp line, but with the Pure XLR Mach 2 Preamp we went even further and run it on 18 volts. This feature alone would make the new Pure XLR Mach 2 Preamp worthwhile, but we added a few more things that players have asked for: +/- 15dB Parametric band that covers 150Hz to 700Hz with adjustable notch width Full bypass of parametric stage if not needed Tuner output Mute switch input In addition to these features: Proprietary K&K high-power three band EQ (bass – mid – treble) Adjustable input gain Phase switch Master volume Simultaneously usable 1/4” line out and balanced XLR – DI output The tuner output allows you to connect your tuner “open ended," so there will be no signal degradation by passing through it and no switch noise. The Pure XLR Mach 2 Preamp preserves harmonics and overtones and provides a more open and true acoustic sound response. The additional parametric band allows you to fine-adjust the low mid / high bass band for optimum tone and feedback control. We know our customers want the best and truest acoustic tone and we are proud to introduce this new preamp. We believe it brings out the best!

This prevents sound degradation commonly associated with running extended cable lengths or using inferiour cable qualities. Your magnetic pickup signal will remain strong, clear and detailed even on the most unfavourable conditions.(see: Quick 10 Step Guide to FlagShip) Schaller Flagship preamp – Stereo / Mono OperationFor mono and for stereo use the Flagship preamp features an advanced mono / stereo selfsensing output stage. The Flagship preamp senses whether a mono 1/4“ or a stereo 1/4“ plug is inserted and switches into the appropriate mode automatically. Not only does this prevent misuse so commonly known from mono/stereo toggle switches. It also allows for just one output jack (see stereo jack enclosed) in your guitar to operate the Flagship to its fullest potential. In mono mode the sound of the magnetic pickups is mixed with the sound of the piezo pickups within the preamp. We recommend using a regular 1/4“ plug guitar cable. Please refer to the Flagship manual for all dedicated sound options in this mode.In stereo mode the sound of the magnetic pickups and the sound of the piezo pickups are sent seperately to the stereo output jack. Please refer to the Flagship manual for all dedicated sound options in this mode.We recommend two ways for routing the signals:1. Using a stereo cable with two 1/4“ plugs for routing the magnetic and piezo signal seperately to a mixing console’s stereo input.2. Using a Y-cable with two 1/4“ mono plugs and one 1/4“ stereo plug for splitting your signal between a guitar amp for the magnetic pickups and a PA or acoustic amp for the piezo signal. The stereo and mono plugs should be connected as follows:Tip of stereo plug goes to tip of mono plug left.Ring of stereo plug goes to tip of mono plug right.Sleeve of stereo plug goes to sleeve of mono plug left.Sleeve of stereo plug goes to sleeve of mono plug right. Please note that by connecting the grounds of two amps or an amp with a PA a low-frequency ground hum may occur. This is an inherent problem caused by ground loops and in no way a fault within the Flagship preamp.
